Now, an Open Source project has released the power of web-based project management to anyone with a PHP/MySQL capable server. I know many of you make your money freelancing on design or media projects. You'll want to get your hands on this.

With activeCollab, you can share files with clients (with organization-based access control), centralize messaging, schedule milestones and manage tasks. The interface is clean and RSS access to current items make this a powerful, professional tool.

activeCollab has no restrictions on number of projects, organizations or members. It's a really sharp tool.

Vanilla

Ah, there are as many free forum systems as there are lame excuses for using a PC. But this one stands out. Vanilla is clean and powerful. The forum system has a smooth interface and aplugin system that opens the door for powerful customization.

Comprehensive administrator options let you take advantage of advanced features like spam control and user management. It's a quick install too.

Zoë

This last application is one of the most unique you'll see. It is an application that manages your email. It has an innovative, searchable interface. But, unlike other applications - Zoë has a traditional application interface that is also accessible remotely via web sharing.
